Microblading vs. Powered eyebrows

Microblading vs. Powered eyebrows

As a beauty specialist I know the struggle of having perfect eyebrows! When it comes to waking up with the perfect brows to envy all others, off course you can fix them every morning with makeup but the most blissful feeling is to be able to sunbathe and swim on vacation without worrying about your makeup or go to work after a long sleepless weekend without worrying about your eyebrows. There are two techniques that are used in the industry, machine powder brows, and microblading. But what’s the difference and which is the right one for you?

Microblading

Marissa Galle, Beauty specialist, Content creator, Microblading, DMT Beauty

Microblading is a  technique that is still firmly in the tattooing family, it's a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that can get your eyebrows back on point and look fantastic. A pigment is implanted into the skin by using little cuts, a precision hand tool is used instead of a machine to mimic natural hairs on your eyebrows. The beauty of microblading is that the hair-like strokes you can achieve are so fine leaving you with realistic results. Each hair stroke is meticulously drawn onto the skin to follow the direction and length of the existing hairs. If there are no hairs present, not to worry, DMT Beauty can create beautiful brows that suit your face shape and mimic of a natural brow. When the skin is drier these cuts will heal nicely in hair strokes but with an oily skin, the pigment will expand, making this technique only suitable for a dry skin type.

How long does microblading last?

  • Very oily to oily skin: 6 to 8 months (update costs 75 euros)
  • Normal to dry skin: 10 to 14 months (update costs 150 euros)
  • Very dry skin: 15 to 24 months (update costs 200 euros)

For powder brows, a cosmetic tattoo machine is used to gently implant pigment into the skin using a variety of fine needles. It’s different from a regular tattoo machine in that the frequency is much lower meaning the pigment is implanted closer to the surface. Because this happens without cuts and no open wounds, the skin will heal faster and lose less pigment + the pigment does not expand. This technique differs from microblading in that it creates a powder-filled brow similar to the look of makeup, as opposed to simulated hair. This method has a very defined shape, but does not have to look blocky or heavy. This technique is suitable for all skin types.

How long does powder brows last?

  • Very oily to normal skin: 10 -14 months (update costs 175 euros)
  • Dry to very dry skin: 16 to 24 months (update costs 249 euros)

How long does the treatment last?

  • 20 to 40 min of anesthetic cream
  • 10 to 20 min shape determination/size
  • 15 to 20 min the treatment itself
  • 7 to 15 min interact with pigment

Do you doubt which technique to choose?

  • Do you have a very dry skin, many hairs and you just want some extra padding? Than is microblading your best choice.
  • Do you have a dry skin and a little less hair at the end of your eyebrows but still a lot at the front? Then you can choose for microblading + shading.
  • Do you have a normal to oily skin and a fair amount of hairs? Than are powder brows your match.
  • Do you have a normal to oily skin and as good as no hairs? Go for powder brows + micro pigmentation. See price list

At DMT Beauty the specialist will help advise you on the technique that is best for you and tailor everything to your natural features.

How much does this treatment cost?

  • Microblading costs 399, - euro (including the first update)
  • Powder brows costs 499, - euro (including the first update)

Why is a first update needed?

The first update is very necessary to bring the pigment deeper into the skin so that the result remains longer and to make small adjustments to the shape/color or thickness. Without the update, the result will remain 3 to 4 months max. The update is applied 6 to 8 weeks after the first treatment.
