Lady Gaga raised the bar with a show at for the ages at Super Bowl LI in Houston.

The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in America. It's an American football game played between the American Football Conference (AFC) champions New England Patriots and the National Football Conference (NFC) champions Atlanta Falcons to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion. It was played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Lady Gaga performed during the half-time show of the Super Bowl. Thankfully, just as theatrical and fabulous as fans hoped it would be. She began her performance on the roof of the stadium, an army of 300 drones forming a twinkling American flag in the sky. Who else would be brave enough to literally fly into the stadium on wires?

Dressed in a sparkling silver bodysuit from Atelier Versace with shoulder pads that evoked her early 'Poker Face' era and knee high boots. Lady Gaga is the Queen of eye-catching fashion so I expected at least a few killer costume changes. What I didn't expect  ... what we once thought was impossible: a full-on, mid-performance makeup change in a 12-minute show.

She was wearing a mask made of ruby-colored crystals surrounding her eyes. Extending out and above the ends of her eyebrows and all the way down to her cheeks. Underneath that? A defined, liquid-lined cat eye with a gorgeous purple eyeshadow.

The first part of Gaga's show was full of classic Gaga dance jams but things slowed down when she sat down at the piano for her ballad ... and her makeup too. Gaga ripped off those crystals around her eyes, revealing the softer glam look beneath.

But what we really need to talk about here is what kind of magical eyeliner can stand up not only to dancing and flying through the air but the ripping off of stick-on crystals? Especially considering we get raccoon eyes just from walking from our cars to work in the morning. The trick? It's actually a combination of two formulas!

They first lined Gaga's eyes in Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer along the lash line to create a dramatic wing, then they traced over it with Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Blacquer to bring it to a sharp point. Another pro tip? Gaga's skin was prepped with a thin layer of Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer to help keep all that makeup from sweating off.

At the end of her show, she dropped the mic and caught a football while fireworks shot into the air.

Hours after the Super Bowl she announced the Joanne World Tour, her first in three years. She will open the tour on August 1 in Vancouver and play 47 stadiums and arenas across North America and Europe until the end of the year.
