ALL eyes were on the red carpet on Sunday as the biggest names in film descended on Hollywood for the 90th Academy Awards. Hosted by late-night US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, the prestigious ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in the heart of La La Land.
While not everyone could scoop a coveted gong, when it came to dressing for the occasion, these glamorous stars were definitely winners.
#1 Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence sparkled in a metallic Dior gown. The gold elements from the design popped as Lawrence presented the award for best actor to Gary Oldman with Jodie Foster. The Red Sparrow star styled her blonde tresses into glamorous curls and rocked bold winged eye liner. She wore Roger Vivier heels and Niwaka jewelery.
#6 Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie was white hot in a chic ivory floor-skimming Chanel Haute Couture gown with beaded off-the-shoulder straps connecting at the bodice. She said: “I can’t believe I’m wearing a Haute Couture dress made for me by Karl Lagerfeld, It’s a fantasy. I feel like myself but still as glamorous as I’ve ever dreamed I would at the Oscars." Margot kept her make-up simple and wore star-shaped diamond stud earrings.
#10 Lupita Nyong’o
Never one to disappoint with her red carpet looks, Lupita Nyong’o arrived at the Oscars in a gown fit for a Wakandan queen. The “Black Panther” star wore a glittered in one-shoulder gold Atelier Versace dress with a daring thigh-high split and had gold threaded through her hair, Alexandre Birman shoes, Niwaka jewelry, and a Versace bag.
#14 Daniel Kaluuya
“Get Out” star and best actor nominee Daniel Kaluuya wore a bold golden suit jacket on the red carpet.
#20 Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish paid tribute to her father and her Eritrean roots in a traditional dress called a zuria, worn by women in Eritrea and Ethiopia. Haddish’s father is Eritrean and told her before he died recently to honor her people if she ever made it to the Oscars, the actress said. She wore a full-length cream satin dress, with golden embroidery, and a matching black jacket. Her hair was styled in a bouffant bun, with a gold headpiece adorning her forehead.
