DYSON SUPERSONIC - The Tesla of hair dryers

You've never seen a blowdryer that looks like this or works like this. It'll cost you, but it could also be the last blowdryer you ever own.

You all know hair is a big thing for me and the Dyson Supersonic feels just so comfortable in my hand. I'm used to using a standard hair dryer the way a pro does, draping hot lengths of hair over my round brush, after a while my arms are killing me! With a Dyson Supersonic, I can get my quite thick, medium long hair from sopping wet to fully dry in only 10 minutes if I'm doing a sleek blow-out look. I need another 5 or 10 minutes to finesse the style and even with the smoothing nozzle, I don't need a flat iron at all.

Where is the motor?

The problem with conventional hair dryers is that their motors are large, slow and heavy, the Dyson Supersonic is 6 times faster with its V9 motor. The tiny motor of the Dyson is in the handle, and it's the same technology you'll find in Dyson's cord-free vacuum cleaners and hand dryers. It delivers fast, powerful airflow. Stashing the motor in the handle is just genius, unlike standard hairdryers with the motor up top, the Dyson Supersonic rests comfortably balanced upright in the hand without constantly threatening to tip forward, without causing tension and fatigue in the wrist.

Where is the filter?

The filter is at the bottom of the handle, the perforated section. You won't catch your hair in it there and should it ever need cleaning, a small light indicator will let you know, but it's advisable to clean the filter monthly.

Where is the speed and heat control?

Two little buttons on the colored part of the barrel control speed and heat for your blowdry. Aside from that, "intelligent heat-control" technology monitors the temperature of the airflow and sends the info 20 times per second to a microprocessor chip that regulates it.

There are 3 speed settings and 4 heat settings, including the cool. The Intelligent Heat Control helps protect your hair from heat damage by keeping the temperature of the air below 150°C. If you were hoping for more heat, there's no need – the dryer has a powerful airflow that reduces drying time without increasing the potential for damage. "It's the strongest airflow I've ever felt from a blowdryer".

How much?

The consumer price tag is €399,- with a two-year warranty. You may already know this if you've seen any of the social media on the Dyson Supersonic. But this is so Dyson! Crazy technology and excellent durability. If you do buy (or receive as a gift) one of these Dyson Supersonic hairdryers, we bet it'll be the last blowdryer you'll own.

After months of using the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, here are a few things to consider:

  1. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer has intelligent heat control, regulating air temperature to make sure it never overheats, which helps to maintain healthier hair and natural shine. The machine’s maximum temperature is 100°C, helping to prevent extreme heat damage.

  2. It dries my hair much quicker than any traditional dryer I’ve used due to its powerful airflow. At the right heat and with more air dispersion, it causes less damage to my hair. I notice more natural shine.

  3. There are three different temperature modes – I love the cold air blast, which is super handy to set my curls when I use the brush to curl my hair.

  4. It’s light to use thanks to the Dyson digital motor V9 and obviously it’s quite beautiful to look at, which is pretty great for a blogger! And because the motor is in the handle, it’s doesn’t wear your arm down if you’re holding it for a while.

  5. If it’s an idea for Mother's Day, there’s a super cute special Mother’s Day limited edition case in RED available now! It has loads of wow factor if you’re looking for a super special gift. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and Mother's Day case edition is available for €399,-.

The Dyson Supersonic comes with three attachments: a diffuser, styling concentrator and smoothing nozzle. Each of these allows you to alter the hair dryer to suit your needs for any particular occasion. But what if you want to switch between nozzles? No problem. All you have to do is remove the nozzle from the magnet that kept it in place and simply stick on the one you now want to use.

The Supersonic's ability to dry so quickly without scorching heat makes it a good friend to all hair, particularly fragile types. If you have delicate hair, and you must blow dry, the Dyson is one to consider. You'll eliminate the risk of frying your hair, and certainly, the super-fast dry time will lessen the overall tugging stress of styling.

The Dyson Supersonic is available at Toni Kalin in Antwerp, he's the Belgian ambassador of Dyson and you can find him in his salon in the Hoogstraat 7 in Antwerp.
